Zanaco have missed out on striker Eliya Mandanji after the teenager completed a move to Red Arrows despite spending last season on loan at Sunset Stadium.
Mandanji was Zanaco’s leading scorer last season, netting 10 league goals before leaving the club to attend trials in Denmark.
Following a brief stint with Danish top-flight side FC Midtjylland, the teenager has returned to Zambia.
Last week, he even attended Zanaco’s end-of-season awards gala but has now been unveiled as a Red Arrows player.
Arrows confirmed the signing in a statement on Monday.
The Airmen said Mandanji will add quality to Chisi Mbewe’s squad.
“He brings attacking energy, movement and a hunger to make his mark. His eye for goals and ability to stretch defences to create scoring opportunities adds more firepower to the Airmen’s attacking options,” the club stated.
Arrows described Mandanji as one of the players to watch this season.
Mandanji is among five new signings the club has made as it looks to strengthen its squad in pursuit of the league title.
The other arrivals are Owen Mwamba from Mufulira Wanderers, winger Munda Phiri, and Amon Chulu from Nkana.
