Green Eagles goalkeeper, Rodwell Mulungushi says he has had a dismal season with his team, which set a target of winning the ABSA Cup or Super League title.
Eagles are currently eighth in the league standings, with 42 points from 33 games, including 11 wins, 9 draws, and 13 losses.
The 26-year-old signed a permanent contract with Eagles from Chambishi FC at the start of the 2023-24 season and has performed admirably thus far. He has kept eight clean sheets in 15 matches so far this season.
However, Mulungushi suffered a knee injury in week 24 and he believes it contributed to his inconsistency this season.
“The season wasn’t okay for me and for the team, because our target was to win ABSA or win the league,” he admitted. “But all in all, we return the glory and honor to God and the injury did me bad.”
Eagles defeated Athletico Lusaka 2-1 to progress to the quarterfinals of this year’s 2024 Absa Cup tournament.
Mulungushi missed the quarterfinal clash against eventual champions Red Arrows, who eliminated them following a 2-1 defeat.
Eagles will be in Lusaka this Saturday to face Nkwazi in their final Super League match of the season at the Edwin Imboela Stadium.
