Chipolopolo striker Francisco Mwepu has ended his loan spell at Atletico Sanluqueno in the Primera Federacion Group 2 League with nine goals.
Mwepu joined Sanluqueno on loan from Cadiz CF and featured in 29 matches in the 2023–24 season. His latest goal came in the closing match of the season, as Sanluqueno beat log leader Castellon 1-0.
The 24-year-old striker rose high in the 65th minute to powerfully direct a well-taken corner. That came minutes after being denied by the goalkeeper in an almost 1v1 situation, resulting in a corner.
The result saw the club end the season in 14th place with 45 points.
Mwepu has expressed gratitude to the club for game time since joining on loan from La Liga-relegated side Cadiz CF. He clocked over 1600 minutes of playtime for Sanluqueno.
“Thank you, Atletico Sanluqueno, for giving me an opportunity to be part of you,” Mwepu posted on his social media pages. “I found a family that believed and lifted me even in my lowest moments. I hope we can achieve more things together in the future.”
The loan deal expired at the end of the campaign, and Mwepu will be hoping to get some game time in the Segunda Division with Cadiz CF.
