Former Nchanga Rangers Football Club defender Gift Zulu has opened up about last season’s lack of game time, adding that he is seeking more game time in the coming season.
Zulu, who has featured for Napsa Stars and Nkana FC before, is now a free agent after parting ways with the Chingola-based side. Before trekking to Chingola, Zulu was an integral member of the pensioners.
The experienced defender had limited game time at Nchanga Stadium and now hopes he can get a deal that will offer him more playing time.
Despite making one matchday squad, coupled with a few cameo appearances, Zulu paid tribute to head coach George Lwandamina.
“Last season I started many matches. I’m now a free agent, and when I decide to move to another club, my priority will be working hard so that I can play more minutes,” he said.
“The squad at Nchanga is competitive, which was good, as we all had to work hard. Equally, the coaching sessions under coach George Lwandamina were demanding, something which pushes you to work extra hard.”
Without revealing his options, Zulu said he is currently doing personal training in Lusaka to help keep fit as he weighs his options for next season.
“I always keep my options open. I have a couple of offers to consider, but for now the key is keeping fit. I want to see where I can be offered favourable conditions and, most importantly, game time. I understand it doesn’t come so easily; I have to work for it.”
