Already under pressure Super League side Nkana, risk a three-season player registration ban if they fail to pay former player Gloire Bakafwa K300,000 for breaching his employment contract.

This is in a matter where the Footballers and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (FAWUZ) brought a case against Nkana to the FIFA Football Tribunal on behalf of Bakafwa over the club’s failure to honor its payment obligations.

The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) has since ruled in favor of the FAWUZ and the player.

“The Respondent, Nkana, must pay to the Claimant, Bakafwa Gloire, the following amounts: USD 10,000 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest p.a. as from 1 October 2023 until the date of effective payment; ZMW 25,000 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest p.a. as from 1 May 2025 until the date of effective payment; and ZMW 25,000 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest p.a. as from 1 June 2025 until the date of effective payment,” the ruling read in part.

Nkana has 45 days to resolve the conflict following a ruling made on 3rd November, 2025.

Nkana FC may face sanctions for up to three seasons if they don’t comply.

“Pursuant to art. 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:

“The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid.

The maximum duration of the ban shall be up to three entire and consecutive registration periods,” the ruling read further.
