Bolanews has learned that Zanaco Football Club is close to signing Francis Mwansa as their new goalkeeper.
The bankers are in a pole position to land the young goalkeeper from Grern Buffaloes. He is viewed as Racha Kola’s replacement, who has retired.
Mwansa’s contract with Green Buffaloes is due to expire on June 30th, therefore he will join Zanaco as a free agent.
In 2023, the Chipolopolo goalie joined Green Buffaloes following a stellar stint with Trident FC of North Western.
Mwansa earned himself a name following his senior national team debut at the 2023 Cosafa tournament, where he played a key role in helping Zambia claim their seventh COSAFA trophy.
However, a source close to the player told Bolanews that talks have progressed.
“Francis and the club have been talking and soon the deal will be concluded. He is still currently with Green buffaloes because his contract comes to an end this month end, so he is expected to join Zanaco as a free agent. Soon he will be unveiled once the deal has been finalized,”said the source.
Meanwhile, Mwansa had also attracted interest from Red Arrows and Zesco United.
Next week, Zanaco will depart for Mongu for their preseason training in preparation for the upcoming campaign.
