Enock Sakala aiming Golden Boot award, eyes Chipolopolo boys call-up

"I would be more than glad, every player wants to represent their country, but everything happens at God's own time," Enock said.

His father Enock Sakala senior was the 2007 season FAZ golden boot runner-up on 23 goals when he finished one goal behind midfielder and 2012 AfCON legend Rainford Kalaba when the latter also played for Zesco.

With the league’s top scorer switching leagues, Zesco United Striker Enock Sakala, Jnr has joined the race for the 2023/24 Zambian Super league Golden boot.

Freedy Michael, a former striker for Green Eagles, still tops the scorers log with 14 goals, but he left to join Tanzania’s Simba Sporting Club.

Sakala has seven goals and three assists in 12 games thus far, and he appears ready to contend for the award.

The young striker will still have to beat Red Arrows Ricky Banda and FC MUZA’s Andrew Phiri, who have 8 and 10 goals, respectively.

Sakala told Bolanews exclusively that he is looking forward to scoring more goals and helping the team win the league title.

“Scoring goals is what I love…I just pray I score a lot of goals,” he said.  “To win the league and the ABSA Cup. I have both titles to my name, and I want to win them again,” Sakala continued.

Sakala is looking forward to being part of the squad ahead of the four nations tournament slate for Malawi.

The tournament begins on 18th of March and run up to 26th where the Chipolopolo boys will be participating alongside host Malawi, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

“I would be more than glad, every player wants to represent their country, but everything happens at God’s own time,” he said.
