Zanaco FC striker Eliya Mandanji is still on course of passing his personal target of scoring more than 10 goals in his first ever season in the MTN Super League.
The 18-year-old scored yet another goal on Thursday against Mutondo Stars in a Week 26 encounter that the Bankers won 2-0. He has scored in four consecutive matches.
Mandanji has scored 40 per cent of the goals for the Lusaka-based side that has scored a total of 25 goals as at Week 26.
Earlier in the season, Mandanji, who is on loan from Kafue Celtic, stated that he was targeting scoring more than 10 goals.
“We have pushed very hard as a team and managed to score, but for me, my target as the youngest player in this team is to score more than 10 goals. My confidence is very high now because I’ve scored two goals, and this is only my second time coming into a game and scoring,” he said in October 2025 after scoring a brace against Kabwe Warriors in Week 6.
“He needs guidance” – Mumamba.
Zanaco Football Club head coach, Numba Mumamba, has described Mandanji as an energetic striker.
Mumamba said the young striker has settled in well in the elite league and needs to be guided to stay focused and score more goals.
“A very important member to our team, a young and very energetic young lad who is doing very well from the time he joined us,”
Mumamba said in a post-match interview after Mandanji scored his 10th goal for Zanaco FC on Thursday.
“He has settled in very quickly, and he is giving us the goals that we need for a striker. All we need is just to continue guiding him so that he doesn’t go astray.”
