Donewell Yobe, the interim coach of Kansanshi Dynamos, has accepted responsibility for his team’s 2-1 loss to Prison Leopards in a Week 21 Super League game on Saturday.
Keziron Kizito, a recent addition, gave the Mabanga Boys the lead in the 38th minute. However, they wasted the lead in the second half as Prison Leopards scored a goal through Maximilian Elimbi and converted a penalty kick by David Obashi.
In response to the outcome, Yobe explained that the team’s defeat was due to the tactical changes made by his technical bench.
Yobe notes that before the changes, Kansanshi Dynamos were in charge of the proceeding, but the changes made brought the tempo down, resulting in the Leopards equalizer and subsequent winning strike.
“Today’s game, I take full responsibility because of the decisions that we made,” Yobe said.
“We had the game in our hands; we knew what Prisons were doing, so we thought at some point we needed to bring in some new energy, prompting the changes that we made; unfortunately, the tactical plan that we had made did not work as we expected it to.”
Yobe said it was a difficult result to stomach, especially since they had a good game before they conceded the two goals.
“It’s a hard lesson learned, especially hurtful in the sense that we were leading and in control of the game. At some point, after the changes, one or two didn’t impact the game as we expected,” he stated.
Yobe feels sorry for debutant Kizito.
The gaffer has applauded new signing Kizito, who scored on his debut.
“I’m very happy with how Kizito has come into the team; he has settled in very well. Going forward, he will just need to play more games as he may just be lacking match fitness,” he noted.
“The technique, the tactical approach, and the insight—I’m happy for him that he scored today. It would have been a good debut for him had we won today.”
