Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba is disappointed with his team’s goalless draw against NAPSA Stars in Zambian Premier League Round 15 match on Saturday played in Kabwe.
Mumamba has attributed the nil-all draw to the failure by his players to convert scoring opportunities to secure three points at their home ground, Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium.
“A very disappointing result for us. This is a game that we should have easily won if we had been clinical, especially in front of goal. We lacked anticipation in the final third,” said Mumamba.
Despite the dropped points at home, Kabwe Warriors reclaimed the top spot on the league table, capitalizing on Power Dynamos’ defeat in the Kitwe derby.
Power Dynamos fell 2-1 to Nkana at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with Nkana securing all three points.
Mumamba says Warriors’ return to the summit is a motivator to improve performances in upcoming fixtures.
“It’s also motivation on our part. We have gone on top of the log; we just have to get down to work so that we can do better than we have done today in the coming games,” he added.
Kabwe Warriors’ next league outing is an away fixture against Nkwazi in Lusaka.
Nkwazi earned a point on the road after holding FC MUZA to a draw in Mazabuka. Mumamba anticipates a challenging encounter, especially given the difficulties of playing away from home.
“Nkwazi is a very difficult team to beat at their home ground. We just have to prepare our team so that they are ready for the challenge ahead of us,” he concluded.
The Warriors will look to capitalize on their position at the top of the table as they strive to maintain consistency in the second half of the season.
