Chris Mwansa, the captain of Mutondo Stars Football Club, is upbeat about his team’s prospects of finishing among the record top four in the 2024–25 Zambian Premier League season.
After losing 2-0 to Nkwazi to start the season, they drew three times with Nkana, Green Eagles, and Nchanga Rangers.
However, the Evergreen are unbeaten in three consecutive matches that have seen them score six goals, conceding one goal, keeping two clean sheets while sitting in third on the log with 12 points, four behind log leaders Zesco United.
Mwansa tells BolaNews that the team’s target is to remain focused and maintain consistency in the upcoming league fixtures.
“We started on a bad note with a loss… I’m happy we are now in the right direction; we just have to be consistent, stay humble, and continue encouraging each other in training as a team,” Mwansa said.
He adds, “As a team, we want to finish in the top 4, which is possible only if we continue working hard, being united, and believing that we can do it; with God, all things are possible.”
The right-back, who has served the club for four years now, also revealed his personal targets for the season.
Even though he still has a contract with Mutondo Stars, Mwansa says the club administration is open to considering offers if his play draws interest from other teams.

“This season I want to play more games and help the team maintain the status of being in the super division, qualify for the ABSA Cup, and market myself for a national team call,” Mwansa stated.
