Red Arrows head coach Chisi Mbewe has expressed concern with the manner in which his team was conceding goals during the recently held Four-team tournament.
Speaking after guiding the Airmen to the first position in Ndola on Monday, Mbewe said the technical bench has made it a priority to work on the ‘leaky’ defense before the start of the season.
“We have conceded goals in all the games that we have played; we need to go back and work on the defense. In that area, we need to improve,” Mbewe said.
He also revealed that there will be no need for his side to recruit more players.
“So far, so good; we just need to work on the defense so that we are alert and don’t allow unnecessary goals. In the game we played, we conceded from outside the 18-yard areas; there was late place marking, so I think we need to work on the organization in defense.”
He notes that the team’s fitness level is not yet 100%; hence, they need another friendly match.
“Fitness levels—so far, so good; what is remaining is the match fitness levels. We might organize another friendly before we start the season,” Mbewe stated.
