Buildcon FC coach says they will not be relegated

Despite having won just one game, the coach is optimistic that his team would avoid relegation from the Zambian Super League.

Zambian Super League side Buildcon FC recorded their first victory of the season last weekend after beating Nchanga Rangers 2-0 at Trade Affair Ground in Ndola.

Despite the victory, Team Kopala, as they are fondly known, still remains at the bottom of the league standings with 7 points after going 17 matches without a win.

The club’s head coach Nchimuenya Mweetwa, is however, still confident that his team has a good chance of surviving relegation this season because the results haven’t been a true reflection of their performance.

“We have been playing good football, we have been scoring in some games but the only issue that we had is that we used to concede, we conceded a lot of goals,” he told Bolanews in an exclusive interview.

“so this time around we just told them to go and play the same way they have been playing, don’t just concede, the longer the game stays 0-0 then it’s good for us, and the 18th game of the season came and we didn’t concede.”

Mweetwa also encouraged their fans to remain optimistic about their survival prospects.

“The League has two halves; there is the first half and the second half, so you have to finish the season. Our fans just have to continue supporting us, and we will continue doing what we know best. We will try and make sure that puts smiles on their faces,” he said.

Buildcon will now head into this weekend with hopes of keeping up their winning ways when they travel to Kitwe to face Nkana F.C. on Saturday.
