Mweetwa said in a post-match interview after his team lost 5-0 to Forest Rangers in the Super League on Saturday afternoon that the league’s standards are very low, giving his team a realistic chance of survival.
Mweetwa stated that based on the point differential as of Week 20, Team Kopala still has a chance to escape the relegation zone.
“Sometimes we have to be realistic; yes, we can believe and we can hope. When you look at the standard of the Zambian league, it’s not good. We have to be honest and truthful with ourselves in Zambia; the standard is very low,” he said.
“When you look at the points and look at where we are. If we can just pick 7 to 9 games, we can survive(relegation).”
The coach, however, bemoaned his team’s lack of clinical finishing. Despite being completely outplayed in larger parts of the derby.
Mweetwa admitted that it was the worst match his team had played so far this season, as they suffered their 15th defeat.
“If you create chances and you don’t score and the other team creates, they will punish you,” bemoaned Mweetwa. “If you’re creating chances, then it means there is something you are doing right in training. Unfortunately, you can’t teach scoring; it’s an art.
“It is the worst game we’ve played the whole entire season even if we are bottom we have played better. No team has outplayed us like today, today we have been outplayed we have conceded 5(goals) for the first time.”
Buildcon is still at the bottom of the Super League, with only 7 points from 20 games, including one win, four draws, and 15 defeats.
In Week 21, Team Kopala will travel to Kabwe to face the Prison Leopards.
