Atletico Lusaka Football Club recorded their away first win in the MTN Super League following a 2-0 victory over struggling Lumwana Radiants in Solwezi on Thursday.

The Bad Boys have struggled to win games outside Lusaka since their promotion to the Super League, losing four of the five matches they have played away from the capital.

Their only draw came against Green Eagles in Choma, while their other win was in the derby against Zanaco at Sunset Stadium. However, second-half goals from Francis “Bubu” Mutalange and a late strike from Godwin Chipanama helped secure this crucial victory.

Speaking after the match, head coach Brian Kunsanama was delighted with his team’s performance

“The boys deserve all the praise. They played so well in two moments of the game  in ball possession moments and recovery moments. We had to do a lot of hard work; we had to defend together.”

Kunsanama was particularly impressed with the goals.

“I’m happy that we were able to score goals. Two amazing goals  from Bubu, an amazing free-kick, and one from Chipanama, a goal that I don’t see every day. Very good for the motivation of the team.”

Kunsanama believes the win could be the first of many. He noted that his team has been performing well even in matches where they couldn’t collect maximum points.

“Results will start coming as they have started coming in. If we look back, there are games where we could have easily gotten three points, games we controlled in the principles of our philosophy.”

Atletico have now moved into 10th place with 17 points following the win. They will face Red Arrows in their next Super League game on December 1st.
