Ghanaian midfielder, Evans Abu, has ditched Konkola Blades to join Mighty Mufulira on a two and half years contract.
Abu, leaves Sharp Razor after four seasons, which he helped secure Super League safety last season.
In an interview, Abu said his immediate task will be to blend in the technical bench’s philosophy so that he can contribute positively to the club.
“I feel motivated; new club and new goals, and I feel ready to work. A team like Maite’s has big plans, and I am ready to contribute my part to help achieve its goals,” he said.
“My main target is to settle in fast, understand the coaches’ system, and earn the trust of the team; once I do that the stats will come.”
He said he understands the culture at the club that has won many titles and produced big stars such as Kalusha Bwalya, adding that such a background serves as motivation.
“That is a motivation for me as a player to work hard, knowing you are in the right direction, because I am in one of the most decorated teams that has great history as far as Zambian football is concerned,” he said.
The Legendary club has also extended the contract for goalkeeper Brian Bwalya until 2028.
Bwalya came from Young Mufulira Wanderers and made 25 appearances in 39 matches for Mufulira Wanderers in all competitions.
The veteran goalkeeper made decisive saves in the 2026 ABSA Cup Quarter-Final penalty shootout win over FC MUZA.
