RONALDO MOCKED

Al Ittihad fans last night targeted Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final with “Messi” chants.

Ronaldo was making his second appearance for the Saudi Arabian giants in a 3-1 defeat that saw Rudi Garcia’s side exit the competition.

The 37-year-old forward captained Al Nassr but he couldn’t find the back of the net as he seemingly struggled to make an impact the entire 90 minutes.

Al Ittihad supporters at the King Fahd international stadium ahead of the match mocked the five-time Ballon d’Or winner with chants of his long-time rival “Messi, Messi, Messi.” who he recently faced in a friendly match between Paris Saint-Germain and an all-star Al Nassr Al Hilal squad, which the French giants won 5-4.

Both Messi and Ronaldo scored in that game, which many fans dubbed the “last dance” for the two, whose rivalry has lasted nearly two decades.

The Portuguese superstar is no stranger to this type of fan treatment, with Messi receiving his fair share of brickbats throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr lead the Saudi Pro League with 33 points after 14 games. They will play Al-Fateh next month.

When Al-Nassr returns to league action, the former Manchester United forward will be hoping to score his first competitive goal for the club.
