Former Black stars and Newcastle United winger, Christian Atsu is said to be “trapped under rubble” after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria.
Atsu who plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor and the club’s other employees were reportedly caught up in the earthquake.
According to Turkish news outlet, STAR, two Hatayspor players and two technical team members were rescued during the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş.
But Taner Savut, the Sporting Director of Hatayspor, and Atsu were left under the rubble. However, search and rescue teams are still looking for them.
Meanwhile, his former club Newcastle United has taken to Twitter to ask for divine intervention on behalf of the 31-year-old winger.
Atsu spent most of his career in the Premier League at Newcastle, where he made 121 appearances, scored eight goals, and made 10 assists.
