Atsu rescued after getting trapped following a massive earthquake in Turkey

Hatayspor have confirmed that Christian Atsu, who was "trapped under rubble" after a massive earthquake in Turkey, has been rescued.

Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu, was rescued from a collapsed building in Kahramanmaraş following an earthquake that killed over 3,000 people in Turkey and Syria.

The former Newcastle and Chelsea FC player who was reported missing along with his current club Hatayspor’s sporting director Taner Savut, was found injured last night but is now out of the building, according to the club’s vice president Mustafa Özat.

“‘Christian Atsu was taken out with injuries,” Özat told Turkish news outlet Radyo Gol. “Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble.”

Meanwhile, several reports suggest that Atsu who was rushed to the hospital sustained injuries and had breathing difficulties.

Rescue teams have continued to search for survivors of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck southern Turkey and northern Syria.
