Eden University Women’s Super League champions ZESCO Ndola Girls have begun reinforcing their squad through key signings and contract renewals ahead of their debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier, set for August 22–31 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Most recently, the Ndola-based outfit announced the signing of experienced Copper Queens goalkeeper Hazel Nali, who joins on a two-year loan deal from Green Buffaloes. Nali brings a proven track record at both club and international levels.
The club has also focused on retaining key players from its current roster. Goalkeeper Annie Namonje has signed a one-year contract extension, continuing her stay at the club. Striker Fridah Kabwe, a vital part of the team’s attacking force, has agreed to a new two-year deal as part of preparations for the new season.
Other key contract extensions include midfielder Elizabeth Mupeso, who has signed on for another year, and long-serving striker Happy Pinto, who has also renewed her contract for one more season.
Striker Mapalo Kapindula has committed to a further one-year stay, while goalkeeper Dears Mwale has also extended her contract by the same duration.
ZESCO has further retained attacking duo Milla Milambo and Agness Chulu, who have both penned one-year extensions. These moves ensure the team’s core remains intact, providing a strong foundation for the upcoming campaign.
After securing key players, ZESCO Ndola Girls — set for their first-ever appearance in the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier — will be looking to emulate Green Buffaloes, the only Zambian side to have reached the group stages of the continental competition.
