A tantalising game of football beckons when host nation Morocco takes on the most successful African national women’s team, Nigeria. Morocco will set their sights on winning their maiden WAFCON trophy, while Nigeria will be chasing its 10th.

Morocco fell just short in the previous WAFCON final, losing to eventual champions South Africa, while Nigeria were beaten by Zambia in the third-place playoff. This highly anticipated fixture has all the ingredients to live up to its billing.

In terms of recent form, Morocco has registered four wins and a draw in their last five matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding six. Nigeria has been equally impressive going forward but more solid defensively, also recording four wins and a draw while netting 11 goals and conceding only once.

Players to Watch

Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco): Chebbak has been one of Morocco’s standout performers at the tournament. With four goals to her name, the clinical forward will be a constant threat to Nigeria’s backline. Her ability to exploit even the smallest of gaps could be key for the hosts.

Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria): Ajibade has been in fine form, contributing two assists and a goal so far. The dynamic attacker will be central to Nigeria’s hopes and will be expected to lead from the front with her creativity and leadership. She is the only player at the tournament this year who has won the player of the match three times.

Prediction

Morocco will bank on the home crowd to frustrate the Super Falcons. This game may produce many goals. So, try for both teams to score. GG and over 2.5.

ODDS: 2.90
