Malawian women’s national team star, Tabitha Chawinga, increased her goal tally in the French Women’s First Division to 13 after scoring twice in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 4-0 victory over Le Havre on Saturday.

The 27-year-old striker has also assisted on eight goals for the French club so far this season.

She is now the top scorer in the French League, followed by Lyon striker Ada Hegerberg, who scored a goal yesterday to bring her total to 12 goals.

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Tabitha stated that she is aiming to win the Golden Boot. She also admits that it will be a difficult task.

“I am happy and I should thank God for reaching this far; minus God, I was nothing,” she said. “It is a dream for every player to score goals and win the golden boot. It is also my prayer to win this, and I am sure with God everything will be alright.”

Tabitha has made a significant contribution to PSG’s impressive start to the season, with the club sitting second in the league standings with 39 points from 16 games, trailing only leaders Lyon, who have 46 points.

In the 2022–23 season, Chawinga, who was on a season-long loan from Chinese champions Wuhan to Italy’s Inter Millan, scored 23 goals in 21 games to become the first African woman to win the Golden Boot in Italy.
