Temwa is joining Kansas after finishing 2023 as the highest scorer in the world with 63 goals for the Chinese club Wuhan Jianghan and her country.

Temwa, who spoke with BolaNews upon her arrival in the United States, stated that joining Kansas is part of her dream of playing in a competitive professional league.

The NWSL is one of the most competitive leagues in women’s football, and this month, Africa’s reigning player of the year, Asisat Oshoala, also joined Bay FC in the United States from FC Barcelona.

Temwa anticipates the league to be tough.

“Upon arrival, I spoke to a player who is here but comes from France; she explained a lot about the league; it is tough but with God, things will be alright,” the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship-winning captain told BolaNews.

When asked about her targets in the United States, Temwa replied: “With targets, I play under pressure; without targets, I play my normal game and score more goals. So, no targets for the time being,” she added.

The 25-year-old scored 83 goals in 84 games from 2020 to 2023 in China while at Wuhan Jianghan.

Before China, Temwa was in Sweden from 2017 to 2019, where she also scored 55 goals in 57 games.

She revealed that her elder sister Tabitha Chawinga, who plays for PSG in France, played a role in her decision to move to the United States, saying she received numerous offers and was encouraged to join Kansas.
