South Korea has disclosed that they will use the upcoming FIFA Series in Brazil to experiment with new players and tactical approaches as part of their long-term preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Led by head coach Shin Sang-woo, South Korea will compete in the tournament scheduled for April 12 to 19 in Cuiabá, where they will face Brazil, Canada, and Zambia at Arena Pantanal.

South Korea will open its campaign against Brazil on April 12, then take on Canada on April 15 and wrap up with Zambia on April 19.

The Korea Football Association official indicated that the tournament presents a strategic opportunity to rebuild the squad following the Asian Cup, with a focus on adapting to conditions in Brazil ahead of the World Cup.

Shin confirmed that the competition will be used to assess new talent and refine team structure.

“This FIFA series is the optimal stage to test the individual skills and tactical combinations of young players who performed well in the Asian Cup and those newly selected for the national team,” he said.

“As we will be playing consecutive matches against strong international teams in the World Cup host nation, our goal is to improve our adaptability to actual matches and develop our performance.”

The squad features eight changes from the Asian Cup team, with several experienced players left out due to injuries or club commitments, while new faces have been drafted in as part of a generational transition.

The FIFA Series, organised by FIFA, is designed to give national teams from different continents increased opportunities for international competition.
