Aguila Stars Football Club’s women’s team has been formally introduced. This follows a smooth transition for up-and-coming talent that competed in the 2nd Division the previous season.
ASWFC will now play in the Division 1 League of Lusaka Province, which begins this weekend.
In an exclusive interview with Bolanews, Aguila Stars Women FC Club CEO Mwandi Kameme revealed that the mission remains to positively impact the development of youth both mentally and physically through character and skill development.
“This remains at the core of our existence, to continue to impact our young girls positively through sport by providing a supportive, community-oriented environment,” she said.
“There is an opportunity for us as a football club to give an opportunity for that young girl to develop her skill and grow in character.”
When asked about the football club’s short- and long-term goals, the CEO responded by saying that the football club’s short-term goal is to qualify for the National Division at the end of this season.
In terms of long-term goals, the club has ambitions to not only take part in the highest echelon of Zambian women’s football but also go beyond; she delivered a bold statement by saying that the club will play in the CAF Champions League one day soon.
What Is Unique About ASWFC?
She said, “Without making a comparison to other clubs, our club values are based on biblical principles.
She further added, “This is key in all that we do and may be the differentiating factor from other clubs.”
”We want to develop players beyond their skill on the pitch. Our mission is to develop godly characters in our girls and provide them with an opportunity to thrive as young women outside their playing careers.”
The creation of this club is undoubtedly the birth of a new dawn in the Zambian women’s football fraternity.
