US Bay football club midfielder Jen Beattie has elaborated on how the strike partnership of Rachael Kundananji and Asisat Oshoala will not only trouble their opponents but also pose a challenge to their teammates.

The club was founded in 2023 and was approved as the league’s new expansion team heading into the 2024 season.

Since then, Bay FC has signed several star players to form the club’s inaugural squad.

Beattie is among the cluster of players that Bay FC acquired in the last four months ahead of their first ever season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The five-time FA Women’s Super League winner made the switch from Arsenal to Bay FC this year after spending nearly 10 years in two spells at the London club.

Their spending spree peaked with the acquisition of Nigeria’s and Super Falcon Asisat Oshoala from FC Barcelona in a deal worth €150,000.

Following Oshoala’s signing, Bay FC made a record-breaking €735,000 bid to sign Madrid CFF striker Rachael Kundananji. The Zambian international became the most expensive women’s player in football history, eclipsing Mayra Ramirez’s €500,000 transfer from Levante to Chelsea FC.

“I can’t wait to work with Kundananji”-Beattie

Hence, Bay FC midfielder Jen Beattie has explained why the additions of Kundananji and Oshoala will be worrisome to the team.

The midfielder revealed in Sky Sports’ ‘Three Players and A Podcast’ show, “Playing against them [Kundananji and Oshoala] in training will be an absolute nightmare. But [Kundananji is] a huge signing for us. And I can’t wait to get out there and start working with her.”

Bay FC will kick off their 2024 National Women’s Super League (NWSL) season in March. In the meantime, their record signing is on international duty with Zambia, who battle for qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
