The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand and Australia from 20 July to 20 August, will mark the eighth appearance of the Canada Women’s National Team.

The 2015 edition hosts will be looking to make a good impression after bowing out of the 2003 FIFA World Cup in the semifinals after losing to the United States.

Kadeisha Buchanan, a center-back for the Canada Women’s team and a member of Bev Priestman’s team, will be crucial in aiding her team’s performance since this will be her third World Cup appearance.

In addition to playing for the U17, U20, and U23 teams, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Young Player Award winner made her Senior squad debut in 2013 against China.

During the 2023 world cup, Canada is in Group B alongside Australia, Nigeria, and the Republic of Ireland.

However, Kadeisha Buchanan disclosed to FIFA.com that the team is ready to face their opponents at the competition.

“It’s always nice to come up against home teams at a FIFA World Cup or Olympic tournament, because you just have a great atmosphere, and the stands are loud and crazy and fun.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old center-back revealed that she has planned well on how to stop her teammate Sam Kerr from penetrating their yard.

“It will be fun going up against Sam Kerr because obviously we are teammates at Chelsea. We know each other very well. I have a few things up my sleeve to stop her, but if you give her an inch, she will take it. We will just try to eliminate those the best that we can,” warned Buchanan.
