Due to their disparate playing styles, Zambia’s three opponents in the 2025 WAFCON competition, according to coach Nora Hauptle, would present Zambia with varying challenges.

The Copper Queens will compete against Senegal, Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

After placing third in the 2022 edition, Zambia will be returning to the Continental competition for the fifth time with the goal of winning their first title.

In her coaching career, this will be Nora’s first WAFCON competition.

Bruce Mwape left the team on January 14, 2025, to be replaced by the 41-year-old Swiss coach.

Prior to playing in an international competition held in China, Nora’s first test was against Malawi in February of this year.

But in an interview with Cafonline.com, Nora said that she has been researching their rivals and is eager to take them on.

“It’s a fairly diverse group in terms of playing styles, I know Senegal a bit from my time with Ghana. They are a very physical team, with technically skilled players. Many of them play in France, a physically demanding league,”she said.

“DR Congo is home to the current CAF Women’s Champions League winners, which means a strong Club foundation.

“As for Morocco-you can clearly see the results of their federations investment, for both men and women. Their game is more possession-based. Zambia recently played them in Olympic Qualifiers, so we are familiar with their approach,”added the coach.

The former Ghana Coach looks forward to winning a trophy with the Copper queens.

“I only started at the beginning of the year, So I’m not thinking much about Legacy yet. But the vision of the country and the players really inspires me to win a trophy. That’s a clear goal,”noted the Swiss Coach.

Zambia, meanwhile, will be hoping to capture their first continental championship to be staged in Morocco this coming July.
