In an effort to push Zambia to the next level, Clifford Mulenga has suggested that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) think about hiring a technical director who will concentrate on women’s football.

Currently, FAZ has one technical director to oversee different national teams both male and female.

Mulenga, a former Youth Football Development Officer at FAZ, has stated that there is a need to reorganize the structure of the technical director’s office.

“Maybe, just maybe, the FA should really consider having separate technical directors for the men’s and women’s national teams. Men’s football is different from women’s football. The style of play, development. Behavior. Emotions. Lifestyles. Physically. Mentally,” Mulenga said.

Mulenga stated on his Facebook page that, “I believe it’s high time someone who understands women’s football in-depth is brought in to manage the women’s football in Zambia. From grassroots leagues to senior national level. We have lots of candidates for this role.”

His comments come barely a day after Copper Queens assistant coach Charles Halubono observed that Malawi has caught up with Zambia in terms of women’s football.

“It could be a game changer, and in my opinion, it’s an idea worth a try,” he said. “It’s working very well for the English Women’s Football; why can’t it work here?”
