Chinese online sports publication Dongqiudi said on Friday that Copper Queens striker Kabange Mupopo has joined Wuhan Chegu Jiangda of the Chinese Super League, leaving Zambian champions Green Buffaloes.

After returning to football in 2018 following a four-year suspension from the running track, Mupopo has had an incredible year.

She was sanctioned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after testing positive for a prohibited substance at the IAAF World Championships.

The former captain of Zambia’s women’s national team played a crucial role in the league-winning Green Buffaloes women’s team. Coach Bruce Mwape called her back to the national team due to her outstanding performance.

She made her debut for the Copper Queens earlier this year when Zambia defeated Ghana in a Paris Olympics qualifying match, scoring at home to advance the country to the Olympics.

It seems that her comeback to football has not gone unnoticed as the Chinese Super League team signed her.
