Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club striker Natasha Nanyangwe has revealed how discouraged she felt after spending so much time on the treatment bed.

Nanyangwe sustained a career-threatening leg fracture after colliding with Angolan goalkeeper Jose during the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship while playing for the national team.

This season, the Green Buffaloes striker has been in top form, scoring 10 goals.

She told BolaNews that her current form is the result of her relentless post-injury recovery efforts.

“After I got injured, at some point I got discouraged, but then I got encouraged by God’s words, which say there is nothing impossible with God,” she revealed. “I have been working hard after the injury, so I think that’s part of the form that I am in now.”

“I believe in teamwork” – Nanyangwe

Nanyangwe also highlighted that teamwork has been instrumental in her success, positioning her as a key figure in the squad striving to catch up with pacesetters Zesco Ndola Girls.

“I try by all means not to play as an individual but to be a team player and play with my friends because football is a team sport. So, I get my energies from my teammates because I can not playalone., because of my teammates and their hard work together we make it look as though it’s so easy,” she said.

Nanyngwe was part of the Copper Queens squad that reached a historic semifinal at the 2023 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2022 and will hope to make the squad for next year’s edition.
