After recording two consecutive wins in their last two group stage matches against Namibia and Lesotho at the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship, the Zambia women’s national team will be back in action this afternoon and look to conclude group B on a high when they face Eswatini.
Zambia beat Namibia 2-0 in their group opener before thumping Lesotho 7-0 to go top of group B and seal a slot in the semifinals with a game to spare.

However, the Copper Queens will also look to maintain their unbeaten run this afternoon against Eswatini having defeated them 5-0 during last year’s edition with goals courtesy of an Ochumba Oseke Lumbaji hattrick as well a goal each by Margret Belemu and Esther Namukwasa.
They last lost a group stage match at the COSAFA cup back in 2020 when they were defeated 1-0 by Malawi who progressed to the semi-final of that edition for the first time since 2011.
Meanwhile, tournament-leading goal scorer Barbara Banda is expected to start again for the Copper Queens and increase her goal tally having already scored 7 goals in 2 matches including a glut against Lesotho a day ago.
Zambia women’s national team have never won the COSAFA women’s championship and have set winning it this year as their target as they prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World cup set to be held in Australia and New Zealand in August.
