Zambia’s defensive stalwarts, Lushomo Mweemba and Martha Tembo, have signed two-year contracts with Turkish outfit Hakkarigücü Spor. The duo makes the switch from Kazakhstan’s Biik Kazygurt following a mutual agreement to part ways with the club, ZamFoot reports.

Mweemba was five months into her 18-month contract with Kazygurt, having previously joined from Zambia Women’s Super League champions Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club. Meanwhile, Tembo had three months remaining on her two-year deal before the mutual separation was finalized.

Hakkarigücü Spor took to Instagram to officially announce the arrival of the two Zambian internationals, expressing their excitement at bolstering their backline with the experienced defenders. The club’s defense is expected to benefit greatly from the addition of Mweemba’s commanding presence and Tembo’s versatility.

However, there will be no reunion with fellow Zambian internationals Misozi Zulu and Hellen Chanda will be disappointed, as both players have since left the Turkish side.
