Zambia’s Copper Princesses will be camped abroad in preparation for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has said.

The Copper Princesses qualified for the tournament with a 3-1 aggregate win over Morocco in Berkane after a 0-0 draw.

Zambia will compete in the tournament for the second time, having previously qualified in 2014 for the Costa Rica edition.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga announced on Monday that the association has planned to camp the team abroad.

“Our under-17s made us proud by qualifying for the Dominican Republic 2024 FIFA World Cup. This adds to our already impressive score card that saw the Copper Queens qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris while the Chipolopolo under 17 and under 20 both qualified for their respective Africa Cup of Nations,” said Kamanga in his weekly column dubbed President Corner shared on the association’s Facebook page.

“We will make sure our under-17 girls are well prepared for the World Cup by affording them quality preparations that include an international camp and friendly matches. It is a standard we have set and intend to sustain for the long haul.”
