Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda has congratulated the “amazing Oshoala” for winning her record-extending 6th CAF Women’s African Player of the Year Award.
Banda has also expressed delight in making it to the CAF FIFPRO Best 11 Team of the Year.
Nigeria salvaged the grand double, with Victor Osimhen and Osisat Oshoala winning the Men’s and Women’s Players of the Year Awards at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, in Marrakech, Morocco.
Banda took to her Facebook page to congratulate the FC Barcelona striker.
“Congratulations to the amazing Asisat Oshoala for winning player of the year; happy to have made the top three and motivation for me to keep working hard,” she wrote.
“[I am] happy to have also made it to the CAF FIFPRO team of the year. It is a great honour.’
Oshoala won the La Liga title with Barcelona, the Champions League for the second time in its history, as well as the Supercup, scoring 28 goals for her club and country, including a goal at the Women’s World Cup, where she reached the round of 16 with the Super Falcons.
Meanwhile, some of the individual award winners on Monday night included the Moroccan duo of Walid Regragui, who won Coach of the Year, Yassine Bonou (Goalkeeper of the year ) and Nesryn El Chad (Young Women’s Player of the Year.)

Senegal and FC Metz’s Lamine Camara won the Young Men’s Player of the Year Award.
Banyana Banyana’s Desiree Ellis scooped the Women’s National Team Coach of the Year accolade.
“Congratulations to all the winners in all categories and good luck to everyone who did not win,” said Banda.
