The Uefa Champions League quarterfinals kick off tonight with Real Madrid taking on Manchester City while Arsenal host Bayern Munich, two matchups expected to produce edge-of-the-seat moments for their fans.
BolaNews shines the light on what to expect tonight in the Champions League.
REAL MADRID Vs MANCHESTER CITY
For the third consecutive season, Real Madrid has been drawn against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) knockout stages. The two met last season in the semifinals, with City advancing to the final. In their last UCL meetings, Madrid has a positive home record (W1, D1). They will be hoping to get off to a good start in their quest for a 15th European Cup/UCL title.
Los Blancos have won the last 11 UCL quarter-finals, and they have eliminated English opponents at this stage in the last three editions. They also have an impressive 16 wins in their last 21 European home games (D3, L2), so they will be confident going into tonight’s game.
Meanwhile, City is coming off a 4-2 Premier League win over Crystal Palace at the weekend and will look to continue their title defence. The defending champions have a poor record against their Spanish opponents (W4, D3, L8). However, they will be motivated by their incredible 22-game European unbeaten streak tonight.
BETTING TIPS: Both teams to score and three or more goals in the match. (GG&3+)
ARSENAL Vs BAYERN MUNICH
Arsenal will enter tonight’s match after defeating Brighton 3-0 on Saturday in the Premier League.
They are unbeaten in seven competitive matches (W6, D1), including a penalty shootout victory over Porto to advance to this stage. The Gunners have not conceded in a UCL home game this season (W4), but the last time they failed to keep a Champions League clean sheet here, Bayern thrashed them 5-1 in March 2017.
Bayern has won the last three head-to-heads anywhere by the same 5-1 scoreline, but after blowing a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Heidenheim on Saturday, they won’t take anything for granted. Their most recent slip-up saw them drop 16 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, so the UCL remains their best chance of winning silverware this season.
