Real Madrid coach Ancelotti has admitted that French star Kylian Mbappe is struggling and may be low on confidence.
Madrid suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday at Anfield.
Mbappe, who joined on a free transfer from PSG, has generally struggled to fit into this Madrid team and tends to go quiet in big games.
In 17 matches in all competitions, he has scored eight goals and could have added to his tally last night had he managed to convert his 61st-minute penalty when his side were trailing 1-0.
“Often strikers have moments when they struggle to score and they’re a bit disappointed. Maybe he lacks a bit of confidence and if you have a moment when things don’t work out sometimes you have to play simple and not overcomplicate things. He’s scored a lot of penalties. Sometimes he can miss a penalty,” Ancelotti said after the game.
He has asked fans to be patient with the French captain.
“The remedy is to be patient because it’s a difficult moment for him after missing the penalty. Everyone has to support him because it will come off soon. He has to work hard and fight because the moment will pass. He’s working well and has adapted well. We have to be patient because he’s an extraordinary player,” he said.
