How PSG survived early Champions League exit

PSG survived a scare on Wednesday night, drawing 1-1 with Dortmund to advance to the Champions League round of 16.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) survived a scare of an early elimination from the Champions League following a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.

An equaliser by 17-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery in the 56th saw the French Champions cancel out Dortmund’s opener after Karim Adeyemi had opened the score line in the 51st minute.

With the game tied at 1-1, a point was enough for the Parisians to go through, as the other game between Newcastle and AC Milan was also tied at 1-1, with Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze putting the Italians ahead off a Noah Okafor assist.

It was a result that ensured both Dortmund and PSG qualified for the Round of 16, while AC Milan were relegated to the Europa Leaguew with Newcastle’s European campaign coming to an end.

Elsewhere, defending Champions Manchester City wrapped up a perfect Champions League Group Stages after beating Red Star Belgrade 3-2 in Serbia, making it six wins from six games.

There were also wins for FC Porto and Atletico Madrid, who confirmed their tickets to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Barcelona finished top of H despite their 3-2 defeat to bottom-placed Antwerp.
