It’s evident that Chelsea’s exorbitant spending spree was going to push other players further out of the squad. Who thought this would only put the Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, out of favor?

The 33-year-old, who was not named in Chelsea’s Champions League squad, was also not on the bench as the Blues drew 0-0 with Fulham on Friday night.

Things haven’t gone well for the former African Footballer of the Year winner. He went from seemingly revitalizing Xavi’s Barcelona to feeling the blues at the Blues.

With only three goals to his name, things haven’t been swimmingly for Aubameyang. Perhaps an indication that the veteran striker won’t be a pertinent part of the new era at Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter on Aubameyang he left him out of Chelsea Champions League squad: “Pierre has done nothing wrong at all, no problem.”

He further added, “It’s just unfortunate and Aubameyang will fight for his place until the rest of the season.”

Aubameyang is without a doubt one of the best strikers of the last decade with more than 300 goals to his name. However, with the many signings made by Chelsea in the just-ended window, his days at the Bridge are certainly numbered.

He hopes he will be recalled for their next fixture against West Ham on February 11, but even that seems highly unlikely at present.

Should the African great consider leaving 10-placed Chelsea in the summer?
