Manchester City thrashed 14-time European Champions Real Madrid 4-0 in the return leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night at Etihad Stadium to reach their second-ever final.

City took the lead in the 23rd minute after Kevin De Bruyne’s clever pass inside the box found the run of Bernardo Silva, who flicked to the left before firing in high at the near post.

Real Madrid showed little life, with Thibaut Courtois making two brilliant saves to deny Erling Haaland.

Despite that, City became more aggressive and scored their second goal of the evening through Silva, who completed his brace in the 27th minute.

Pep Guardiola’s men went into the break with a two-goal lead. When many expected the record European champions to come back in the second half, City scored their third goal through an own goal by Eder Militao after Manuel Akaji’s header was deflected into the net.
