Zambian striker Kingstone Mutandwa has been named to the Cagliari Calcio FC first team for tomorrow’s Serie A match against Bologna.
Mutandwa might become the second Zambian in history to play in the Italian top flight, following US Lecce winger Lameck Banda.
The former Athletico Lusaka striker joined Cagliari on a permanent deal from the Zambian second-tier club last season.
This came after scoring 16 goals in 22 games in the Zambia National Division.
Following his transfer, he has been playing for Cagliari’s U19 team, where he has three goals in 13 games this season.
The 21-year-old also featured for the Cagliari first team and scored in a 5-0 pre-season friendly match against Carbonia Calcio.
In 2022, Banda made history by becoming the first Zambian to play in Serie A.
The Chipolopolo rapid winger has gone on to score four goals and six assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
