AC Milan blew a two-goal first-half lead to draw 2-2 with US Lecce on Saturday afternoon at Stadio Via del Mare.

Rossoneri, who had not won in their previous three Seria A games, were on the verge of a victory when Zambia’s Lameck Banda denied them with an equalizer.

Milan suffered a major setback just ten minutes into the game as attacker Rafael Leao was injured. Despite this, they broke the deadlock in the 28th minute thanks to Olivier Giroud, who latched onto Theo Hernandez’s cutback.

Milan increased their lead seven minutes later, as Tijjani Riejnders finally got his first goal in a Rossoneri shirt, making the score 2-0 at halftime.

Lecce came out firing in the second half, with substitute Nicola Sansone scoring on his first touch of the ball from a corner kick.

Banda completed the comeback four minutes later, with a strike inside the box to beat Mike Maignan who had earlier denied him a goal in the first half.

It was the Zambian’s first goal in eight games this season. However, he has been crucial for Lecce, contributing three assists in seven starts.

Milan were fortunate to escape with a point as Roberto Piccoli scored in injury time what could have been the match-winner for Lecce, only to have the goal disallowed by VAR for a foul.
