Saudi Arabian Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala is constructing a secondary school, in Mbenjere, Eastern Province, in Chipangala District, as he aims to empower children in his native village with quality education through safe infrastructure.
The 26-year-old announced the development on Thursday through a Facebook post. Sakala is also sponsoring the ongoing K700,000-worth Eastern Province.
Saakala said the construction of the school commenced in 2021 after it was approved by the Zambian government.
“I have a strong belief in the transformative power of education to unlock opportunities and pave the way for a brighter future for the children of Zambia,” Sakala said in a Facebook post.
“The vision of Fashion Sakala Secondary School transcends just the buildings. It embodies a commitment to empowering the children of Zambia with access to quality education and safe infrastructure.”
The Fashion Sakala Secondary School has 14 classrooms and seven offices. It also has 15 teachers’ houses, two blocks of boarding houses, and a dining hall.
“It is my prayer that once fully completed, handed to the government, and operational, the Fashion Sakala Secondary School will be one of the best secondary schools in Zambia,” the Chipolopolo striker said.
Sakala, revealed that he will visit Mbenjere in June to inspect the school, having been excluded World Cup qualifiers.
