Chirundu United Football Club held log leaders Konkola Blades to a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday, earning them a crucial point at home.
Chirundu United, playing in the FAZ National League for the first time after earning promotion last season, are currently eighth on the log with 37 points.

Caston Chilekwa, the club’s head coach, had anticipated the game to be simpler given his team’s performance in their 2-1 loss on the road in the start of the season.
“We knew on our side that it was not a tough game; it was an easy game. We saw it in the first round, how we played,” Chilekwa said.
Chilekwa was delighted with the way his squad played, despite the draw.
“The boys played according to instructions, the game plan. We missed a lot of chances,” he added.
Chilekwa remains optimistic that his side can secure a strong finish if they maintain the same level of performance in the remaining fixtures.

“If we continue with the same performance from today and apply it in the last five games, maybe we can find ourselves in a good position,” he said.
Next up, Chirundu United will play promotion-chasing Mines United in a difficult match in Kabwe. He demanded better finishing in front of goal and careful planning.
“So, we need to prepare well as we face Mines United,” he said. “We missed a lot of chances, but sometimes that’s how the game is. As we start this week, we need to work on the final third.”
