As Trident Football Club continues to strive for promotion to the MTN Super League, head coach Manchi Janza has urged perseverance and mental toughness.
Trident has four wins, one draw, and one loss, putting them in fourth place on the table with 13 points.
Janza warned that the season is far from over after missing out on qualifying last season by just two points.
Speaking after their hard-fought victory over Jumulo, Janza admitted the game tested his side’s resolve.
“Victory always comes as a sweet victory,” he said. “It was a tough game. Jumulo FC wasn’t a pushover—they came prepared, and they looked so good and disciplined in both defense and attack. We had to use a lot of strategies and Plan B, and it worked for us in the second half.”
Gradi Bakodila, a forward, received praise from the coach for his hard work and contribution.
“During preseason, Bakodila showed a lot of positiveness, and we’ve always encouraged him as technical staff to keep pushing because his season has come,” Janza said.
“He’s always there for the team—fighting, marking, and attacking—which is positive for us as a team and for him as an individual.”
Janza cautioned his team, though, not to get ahead of themselves with their recent success.

“What is important now is for us to have mental fitness in terms of handling these wins,” he explained. “If we get too excited with what is happening, we might lose track. It is very important not to get too excited—the season is still on.”
Looking ahead to their next fixture against River Plate, Janza stressed the need for a measured approach.
“We are still moving, we are still building, but we can’t bring all the bricks at once,” he said. “We face them as they come and prepare for each game depending on the opponent and what lies ahead.”
