Roan United head coach Satchmo Chakawa has praised Lineker and Morientes Kajiya—sons of 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner Collins Mbesuma—after their match-winning display in a Week Five ZPL National League clash on Saturday.
The Mbesuma brothers both found the net to secure a 2-0 win over Ndola United in the 40th and 90th minutes, maintaining Roan United’s unbeaten start and a fifth consecutive clean sheet. The Luanshya-based side sits top of the table with 15 points, four ahead of Chirundu United and Forest Rangers, 11 points each, while Trident follows in fourth on 10 points.
Chakawa expressed confidence in the duo’s ability to become decisive players for the club.
“I’m happy for the boys. They’ve been with us since towards the end of last season,” he said. “I always believed and trusted them. They have a lot of potential, a very high ceiling. You’ll see more of them—they can help us, and I just need results from them. The performance is there, and they’re showing it.”
Reflecting on the team’s overall effort, Chakawa described the performance as good and the result as proof of their growth despite limited preseason preparation.
“We are a young team still developing, still learning each day,” he explained. “Though we didn’t have enough preparations—we only had two weeks—we’re improving with every game. We fought for every ball, were aggressive without possession, and made it difficult for them.”
Chakawa spelled out expectations for the season.
“Our primary goal is to survive,” he said. “We’ll focus on the next game, and by the end of the season, we’ll see where the points take us. I’m happy with the start and hope we can continue this form.”
Their next match will be on Saturday against Aguila Stars FC at REIZ Arena in Lusaka.
Collins Mbesuma, who began his career at Roan United before starring in South Africa, England, and Portugal, will be proud to see his sons shine for his boyhood club.
