Newly appointed Trident Football Club head coach Kebby Hachipuka has set his sights on collecting maximum points in his first match in charge when his side travels to Indeni Football Club this weekend in a Week 18 ZPL National League.
Hachipuka, whose six-month appointment was confirmed on Tuesday, will make his debut on the Trident bench alongside assistant coach Jonas Sakuwaha. The technical team is completed by the return of Graven Chitalu as physical trainer and Isaac Shimoko as goalkeeper trainer for the remainder of the season.
Currently fifth on the table with 29 points, Trident remain within touching distance of the top four, a target Hachipuka has openly embraced. Indeni, who were relegated from the MTN Super League last season, sit ninth with 22 points and arrive in Kalumbila seeking to close the gap.
Speaking in his first interview since taking over, the former Green Eagles coach stressed the importance of discipline, commitment, and hard work as key pillars of his approach.
“First of all, I would like to thank the ZNS command and the Chief of Sports for giving me the opportunity to join this beautiful team, which I have admired for some years,” Hachipuka said. “I would also like to thank the Manchi Janza technical bench for the work they have done. It is not easy to finish the first round in fifth position, just a point away from the ABSA Cup places. My aim is to take it up from where they left off.”
Indeni match not easy – Hachipuka
Hachipuka cautioned against underestimating Indeni, describing the fixture as a tough test despite the difference in league positions.
“Playing against Indeni is not an easy game. They were recently in the Super League; they have a good side and a well-organised team. But we will work extra hard,” he said.
The coach made it clear he wants a positive start to his reign. “This will be my first game and I want to start with a bang.”
