The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has administratively demoted Buildcon Football Club of Ndola to the Provincial Football League as a result of many infractions.

Team Kopala was dropped from the Super League to the National Division One League following the 2022–2023 campaign.

The once ‘money bags’ failed to meet the players’ financial obligations last season and failed to pitch up for a League match against Kansanshi Dynamos.

FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga has disclosed that Buildcon are currently serving a transfer ban from FIFA.

“Following repeated breaches of FAZ and FIFA statutes around player transfer and remuneration we have had to suspend Buildcon from participating in the 2023/24 season,” Kamanga said.

“Buildcon is unable to fulfill their league and legal obligations because they are suspended from the registration system and are serving a FIFA transfer ban,”

Additionally, FAZ has imposed sanctions on Buildcon for violating Articles 13 and 18 of the FAZ Constitution.

“Buildcon is in breach of Article 13 and 18 that stipulates some of their member obligations,” Kamanga stated.

Buildcon FC won promotion in 2017.

Kamanga says FAZ will advise in due course whether there will be a replacement for Buildcon.

Businessman Moses Mubanga is the sole owner of Buildcon, which is backed by Buildcon Construction. The team was promoted to the top level in 2017 after winning the National level One League in 2016.
