Lionel Messi bids farewell to booing PSG fans

"I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future." Messi told the club website.

Paris Saint-Germain with Lionel Messi playing his last match for the French club lost to Clermont on the final day of Ligue 1. Goals from Sergio Ramos and a Kylian Mbappe penalty saw the Parisian side take the lead however, the visitors recovered to record a famous 2-3 shock win.

PGS sealed the title last weekend, but the campaign has been a disappointment following a round of 16 UEFA champions League exit for a second successive season.

In his two seasons at PSG, Messi managed to win two French league titles and the French champions trophy, scoring 32 goals with 35 assists in all competitions.

The club’s fans made their displeasure known as they booed Argentine star, when the Parc-Des -Princes announcer read his name before Saturday’s match. Messi said that he wished the club all the best for the future as he bid farewell.

“I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future.” he told the club website.

Lionel Messi, the captain of the 2022 world cup champions, is yet to disclose his next club, but he has been associated with a variety of top european sides, including his old club Barcelona.

Ramos to leave PSG.

PSG conceded 24 goals at home in Ligue 1 this season, their second highest tally in a single season in the topflight since 1984/85 when they conceded 28 goals. The club also announced that Sergio Ramos will be leaving the club after yesterday’s match.
