Mbappé Shines as Real Madrid Keep Faint Title Hopes Alive

Mbappé’s record-breaking form has kept Real Madrid’s slim La Liga title hopes alive, as his latest goal inspired a crucial 2-1 comeback win over Mallorca, prolonging the title race and delaying Barcelona’s coronation.

Real Madrid’s season has largely been overshadowed by inconsistent performances and a string of injuries to key players. Yet, amidst the challenges, Kylian Mbappé has emerged as a rare bright spot for Los Blancos.

Fresh off a hat-trick in El Clásico, the French star continued his impressive form by scoring in Madrid’s hard-fought 2-1 comeback win over Mallorca, taking his La Liga tally to 28 goals. His contribution was vital, as a loss or draw in that match would have handed Barcelona the league title. For now, the title race remains alive.

Barcelona, however, can still seal the championship with a victory against Espanyol tonight. Even so, there remains a slim chance for Real Madrid to snatch silverware in Carlo Ancelotti’s final season in charge.

Mbappé’s early struggles adapting to Spanish football are now a distant memory. Last night, he broke Alfredo Di Stéfano’s long-standing record of 27 La Liga goals by a Real Madrid player in their debut season. Across all competitions, he now boasts 40 goals and five assists.

Speaking after the Mallorca match, Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed cautious optimism:
“We believe in doing our job, in winning what’s left and seeing what happens,” he said.

It has been a turbulent season for Real Madrid, but Kylian Mbappé has undoubtedly become the team’s driving force — and one of the most lethal weapons in their attacking arsenal.
